Curious if others have gotten this error. I installed the Gen4 ECU alongside the 2muchsun adaptor and it works pretty well. However, I noticed if I show up with a low battery to a 250kW supercharger, the session dies out after 10 minutes with the following errors:
CP_a110_thermalVelocityHigh: The charge port (CP) electronic control unit (ECU) detects an unexpected rapid rise in temperature. The CP ECU detects that thermal velocity, which is calculated each minute, exceeds the expected increase rate of temperature.
BMS_a174_SW_Charge_Failure: The battery management system (BMS) has encountered an issue while charging or attempting to charge.
and another about the Supercharger stall failing. I unfortunately didn’t take a picture of that one.
Re-installing the Gen3 ECU and removing the bundle of wires results in no errors during a low state of charge.
Any pointers? April 2019 build date Model 3 AWD, USA.
Hi David,
I believe we got this error early on in our history of making these whenever one of the resistors wasn't connected due to a bad crimp but it was either it worked all the time or didn't. Since then we have instituted more rigorous testing before we ship and haven't had any issues relating to this. Maybe somehow you have an intermittent connection that somehow is coincidental to your low SOC. With the resistors, the ECU should see a much shallower rise in temp with the trigger high temperature being the same as what is considered unsafe so the ECU will always think the charge port is at a higher temp up until the higher trigger temp.. So getting this error does indicate some kind of disconnection of one of the resistors.. Because you swapped it back to the original config and it worked,, tells me it's not the SC or charge port hardware but more so either the Bundle or Gen4 ECU. To eliminate the Bundle, we can send you another one at no charge in about a week or so when we have more in stock to see if that fixes the issue. We'll check back with you when we receive more to see if that is what you want to do. Thanks.
Bobby
