Model 3 still no CCS

I installed the gen 4 ecu with the bundle of wires in an early 2020 Model 3. I also did the software re-install; twice The car still says that CCS capability is "Not available". What could be wrong? The car doesnt have any error messages and seems totally normal. As if I didn't do anything.

Make sure you have the right Gen4 ECU. Not all Gen4 ECUs support CCS. It must be part number 1537264-00-B. If it is, inspect each connection at the ECU excluding the one from the bundle of wires to make sure there are no damage to the pins or socket and make sure connectors are locked in. If still not okay, then you probably have a defective ECU. Try another one as the CCS feature is strictly from the ECU with part number 1537264-00-B. The bundle of wires only makes sure the charging port sensors can be detected by the ECU and it is not related to the enabling of CCS.

Can't detect power from AC charger after DIY update

I have a March 2018 build model 3, and I purchased a bundle of wires from this site. I followed the instructions on the youtube video, and I put in the new Gen4 ECU. After the install, and re-installing the Tesla firmware, the CCS adapter support appears in the UI. However, when I attached my Tesla UMC, it says "Charging Error - Power Not Detected". Looking in the service menu, I saw an error of "CP_a152_pilotEdgeDetectionFailed". I unplugged everything, then re-attached all of the wires connected to the ECU. It still showed the same error.

When I re-installed my old Gen3 ECU, level 2 charging worked without any issues. (I never tried CCS/Supercharging, as I need level 2 charging to work).

Is it possible to test my bundle of wires to make sure it's correct? Otherwise, are there any debugging tricks that I haven't found?

Oh, normally multimeter leads have around 0.6 ohms resistance. To find out, touch the probes together and read the resistance and subtract this number from all your readings. Less than 1 ohm is good enough to pass through the pilot signal without any issues.

Ccs1 adapter upgrade software update issue

Stuck updating software for 2 and a half hours now. Doing this on a 2018 model 3. New ecu and bundle of wires installed.

Thank you Bobby for the insight. I took your advice and held down the 2 button on the steering wheel to reset the computer. Everything loaded up and now, CCS ENABLED!!!

Thank you!

 Hi ak_potatoes

First time I’ve seen this.  It appears the firmware is having problems loading the firmware for the ECU for some reason.  This is strictly between ECU and firmware as the ECU hasn’t booted up to check the signals from the charge port or bundle of wires.  I would try reseating the connections at the ECU to make sure there’s a good connection and then reboot and reload the software.

Thanks!

CP_a110_thermalVelocityHigh after DIY install

Curious if others have gotten this error. I installed the Gen4 ECU alongside the 2muchsun adaptor and it works pretty well. However, I noticed if I show up with a low battery to a 250kW supercharger, the session dies out after 10 minutes with the following errors:

CP_a110_thermalVelocityHigh: The charge port (CP) electronic control unit (ECU) detects an unexpected rapid rise in temperature. The CP ECU detects that thermal velocity, which is calculated each minute, exceeds the expected increase rate of temperature.

BMS_a174_SW_Charge_Failure: The battery management system (BMS) has encountered an issue while charging or attempting to charge.

and another about the Supercharger stall failing. I unfortunately didn’t take a picture of that one.

Re-installing the Gen3 ECU and removing the bundle of wires results in no errors during a low state of charge.

Any pointers? April 2019 build date Model 3 AWD, USA.

That’s so kind of you. The shipping address is the same. Thank you.
