The heading shows the power profile for the entire home. Blue text is the power being used, green/red is the power flow to the grid, and yellow is the power from 2 generating sources (solar and battery inverters). To achieve maximum ROI, the green/red numbers need to be as small as possible.
The left side shows how this is achieved by the PowerMC coordinating 9 loads or power diverters. The first 2 diverters are a standard dehumidifier and fountain pump controlled by a home automation software following our free diverter protocol. The rest of the diverters are either kits or add ons to standard loads which also follow our diverter protocol and require no home automation software. You can watch how the PowerMC polls each diverter based on a user configurable priority list to allow each diverter to adjust its settings accordingly to the available power.
The graph on the right shows the results in the form of energy. This Power vs Time graph is over a 6 hour period to illustrate how well the PowerMC is tracking. Notice that from 7 am to 9 pm, the Export and Grid energy spread is within 4%. The lighter blue color is the result of the blue and yellow colors overlapping. This means there is near zero wasted solar and near zero grid usage during the peak times, This is the fastest way to improve your ROI.
Achieving near zero meter movement
To get an even faster ROI, use a grid tied inverter with AC coupled batteries. Not only will you be able to get both the export and grid usage spread to about 4% or less but you can also charge the batteries at night when the rates are cheaper and discharge the batteries when the rates are higher (energy arbitrage). Note. An all-in-one solar inverter essentially has a built-in battery charger used as a rudimentary power diverter and some even have an EV charger as a power diverter. However, those inverters usually have a closed architecture in which their internal protocols are not exposed meaning it’s difficult to add other devices. Our PowerMC (under $100) allows you to create your own network of smart power diverters (up to 30) to give you the most flexibility.
